Himachal: Six times Congress MLA Dr Prem Singh is no more

Nahan (Himachal Pradesh): An ex parliament secretary Dr Prem Singh was elected six time on Congress ticket to the state assembly from Renuka [Reserve] constituency has passed away. He died at his residence in village Mina Bag in Sangrah tehsil this morning after a heart attack. He was 63. It was his 64th birth day today.
A veterinary doctor by profession, Dr Prem Singh got Congress ticket in 1982 assembly elections and won. He was elected again in 1985 but lost to Janta Dal nominee Roop Singh in 1990. Dr Prem Singh was again elected to Himachal Vidhan Sabha in 1993 in 1998, 2003 and 2007 assembly elections. He received his education near his native village Rajana and Dadahu. At present he was chairman of Public accounts committee, he also chaired Himachal milk federation for five years.
Dr Prem Singh held different important positions in the Congress Party during his 29 years long inning in the active politics. During his tenure as MLA he also chaired different boards and corporations besides remaining parliament secretary in the Cabinet of Virbhadra Singh. He was a very soft spoken, polite and hard working politician which was one of the reasons for his popularity in his area. His untimely death has created a political vacuum in the politics of Renuka and leadership crises in Renuka Congress.
A senior BJP leader of Renuka and CEO, Renuka Development Board Deep Ram Sharma told MVO News that Dr Prem Singh had arrived in his native village Mina Bag from Shimla, last evening. He was scheduled to undertake a Jan Jagran Abhyan in his constituency from today. He was rushed to Dadahu hospital from his residence last night after he suffered a massive heart attack but he breathed last on the way to hospital.
The dead body of Dr Prem Singh was brought to Dadahu this morning where thousands of people from every part of district and every walk of life had gathered to pay him last respect. He will be cremated in Dadahu on the bank of Giri river this afternoon with full state honour.
Dr Prem Singh was born to Salig Ram and Sajno Devi of village Mina Bag of Sangrah tehsil of Sirmour district. He is survived by his wife Vidya Devi, daughter Rekha, Son Viney, grandson and grand daughter. His mother Sajno Devi 90 is also still alive .

So sad …May God rest his soul in peace.in 2008 he visited Kaza as PAC chief and I had the honour to welcome him as ADC kaza other members were Mr. Markendeya, satpal satti virenderjee, suresh bhardwaj etc as member of the team. I found him simple soul and down to earth person always pro poor people…such a rare creed of a politician.difficult to find…My sincere codolences….
Such a shocking news…huge loss to our area…more so its a personal loss to me….he was such a noble soul…may his soul rest in peace in heaven…will miss him always. Vinay, seema, bua Ji…we all share the grief equally.

Dr Prem was on of the leader which used to pay attention to all categories of people. This is big loss to our constituency. He was very kind and hard working personality which was one of the reasons for his popularity in district sirmour. May God bless his soul with peace…
Dr Prem Singh was the harbinger of the rights of the downtrodden people and understood their issues closely. his son Vinay has been a close freind and i wish him all the luck to pass down the baton of his unfullfilled dreams.
