Aligarh Muslim University formed University Eco-Club

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh):  Environment is the “engine” of human existence, and the lubrication of this engine is one of the fundamental duties of every individual. Due to the advancement of science & technology, the negative effects of the very advancement have rooted the environment towards a degraded position. The ecological balance has been undermined by the most social and civilized living being on the planet earth. Factors like deforestation, which add to the ecological imbalance of the environment. Global warming has been added as an obstacle towards the balanced & proper functioning of the planet earth. Thus affecting the environmental structure which in turn will collapse the existence of human being.

Faculty members and students of the Aligarh Muslim University have formed a University Eco-Club with a view of creating awareness of biodiversity conservation and highlight the local environmental issues to create a “clean and green consciousness” among the campus community through various innovative methods.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Prof. M. Anis, Chairman, Department of Botany and Member In-charge Land and Gardens stressed the need of such initiatives to create awareness among the AMU community.

Dr. Shamsul Hayat, Dr. Zaki Siddiqui, Dr. Athar Ali Khan, Associate Professors and Mr. Ayub Shabab, teacher in Senior Secondary School (Boys) spoke on the occasion and highlighted the need of the establishment of such club.

Dr. Fareed A. Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Botany was unanimously elected the President while Mr. Arif Md. Yasin Jwadder, student of BALLB was elected the Secretary of the Eco Club who put forward the purpose of the club and shed light on its aims and objectives. Mr. Ayub Shabab was elected the advisor of the club. Faridul Amin proposed the vote of thanks.
