Through the science Muslim can develop themselves: Syed Mehdi Nabi Zadeh

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh):  Syed Mehdi Nabi Zadeh, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran said that through the science only Muslim can develop themselves. He appreciated the efforts of AMU in promoting scientific temperament among the minority institutions and Madarsas of India while addressing the inaugural function of Computer Application in teaching for teachers from Deeni Madaris and Minority Institutions organized by Centre for Promotion of Science, Aligarh Muslim University here today.

He said that the Prophet of Islam has always propagated the education which is the key to empowerment. Quranic verses are emphasizing towards attainment of education, he added. Mr. Nabi Zadeh said that the certificate of AMU bears the verse of Allamal Insan-a-Maalam Yaalam, which is a testimony to the fact that AMU is working on the principles of Islam. He said that educational madaris should be equipped with modern technologies including the computer applications so that they can be placed at can be par with other modern educational institutions.

Mr. Zadeh also focused on the relation of Iran and India. He said even before the advent of Islam there have been good relations between Iranians and Indian. India and Iran shares a composite culture. Mr. Nabi Zadeh said education has received special impetus in recent time as is evident by the fact that there were only 1.5 lakh students before Islamic revolution in Iran but now there are more than 30 lak students in Iranian Universities.

Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis, Vice Chancellor said that India and Iran shares a great relationship. Iranian Revolution led by Ayatullah Khumaini is cherished by the whole democratic world. He said that Iran is one of the few Arab countries which is giving adequate freedom to its women. Iran is now one of the most vibrant Islamic State of the world, he added. Prof. Azis said that HRD Ministry recently introduced the cheapest tablet PC “AKASH” to be distributed among the students community in the country. He said that University places on record its appreciation towards the HRD Minister Kapil Sibal for introducing such a unique and useful device for the benefit of the students.

Prof. Saud Alam Qasmi, Guest of Honor and former Dean of the Faculty of Theology said that knowledge is the key to life, as it provides empowerment to the community. He highlighted the teachings of Quran that are the directives towards attainment of knowledge.

He said that knowledge is a two sided sword, it can protect humanity as well as cause destruction to it. The complete knowledge is that which gives an insight of both the deen and the duniya. Prof. Qasmi said that Madarsas are not only creating awareness among the masses but also acting as an instrument of cleansing the society by producing God fearing people.

Dr. Fatima Shujatullah, Director, Centre for Promotion of Science said that the intellectual activity of the Muslim community had become confined to the literature, religious studies and few subjects in social sciences, and that an inclination towards scientific pursuit was lacking prompted the Centre for Promotion of Science to take step to promote science education among the Muslim community of India. She said that a vast majority of Muslim students acquire their primary education in either madarsas or Muslim managed schools. This Centre is pursuing different programs for the enrichment and uplift of teachers of Deeni Madaris and Muslim minority educational institutions.

Dr. Shakeel Samdani, Coordinator, General Education Centre while conducting the programme threw light on the yeomen services the AMU has rendered in spreading the light of modern knowledge amidst a large ocean of traditional stream of education.
