Aligarh: A two-day Workshop on ERP (Educational Research Planning) Mission has been organized by Department of Computer Science in collaboration with Department of Computer Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University.
The ERP Mission project has been sanctioned by National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology, MHRD with the objective of developing an open source ERP system for universities and other educational institutions.
Addressing the inaugural session of the workshop, Prof. Anwar Jahan Zuberi, former Vice Chancellor of Calicut University and Dean, Faculty of Social Science said this project will reduce the digital divide. Prof. Anurima Lal, Dean, Faculty of Science was also present as the guest of honor.
The Convener and Principal Investigator of the Workshop, Dr. M. U. Bokhari, Chairman, Department of Computer Science highlighted the need and role of this project and said that the workshop will be useful for the students interested in software development and engineering as it would provide them an opportunity to interact with experienced developers and implementers. He further emphasized on two modules of the project LIBMS (Library Management System) and EMS (Election Management System) which are being developed by the team of AMU.
Prof. Nesar Ahmad, Department of Computer Engineering is the Co-convener of the workshop and Shadab Alam, Research Scholar, Department of Computer Science is the host of the programme.
Besides AMU, other partner institution of ERP mission like IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorke, Jamia Milia Islamia, IGNOU, NIT Hamirpur, Dayalbagh Educational Institution Agra, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Coimbatore, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Jammu also presented their modules. The workshop will conclude on January 18, 2012.
