Aligarh: The Department of Civil Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University organized a National Workshop on “Advances in Structural Engineering” today.
Dr. Arshad Umar welcomed the guests. Dr. Tazyeen Ahmad, Chairman of the Workshop elaborated on the theme of the workshop and highlighted the importance of structural engineering. Prof. M. M. Ashhar, Chairman of the Department shed light on the historical development and emerging technologies used in civil engineering.
Er. S. K. Gupta, Chief Engineer, DMRC, Delhi talked at length about the planning-related issues, segmental construction, tunneling by TBM and high-speed train corridors. Prof. Matsagar Vasant from IIT Delhi delivered lecture on seismic response of masonry structures. Prof. Mohammed Arif summarized the outcome of the workshop.
Prof. Hamid Ali, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology and a large number of students and faculty members participated in the programme. Delegates from different institutions including Ideal Institute of Technology, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budha University, Greater Noida, Integral University, Lucknow and ACN College of Engineering, Aligarh attended the workshop. Dr. Fareed Mahdi proposed a vote of thanks.
