Aligarh: After complete failure in controlling communal riots in Muzaffarnagar, suddenly SP Supremo Mulyam Singh Yadav has decided to take up the minority status issue of the Aligarh Muslim University just for garnering support in the forthcoming elections but his political conspiracy to misuse Muslim vote bank will not succeed this time said Prof. Razaullah Khan while chairing a political analysis meeting of the Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC), Aligarh held at Media Centre Aligarh. He further added that the SP government in UP has not only failed in maintaining peace at Muzaffarnagar and punishing the guilty but also engaged itself in shameless celebrations at Saifai despite death of 40 children in Muzaffarnagar relief camps.
Jasmim Mohammad, Secretary of MBMC & Editor, The Aligarh Movement magazine said that SP opposed the Anti Communal Violence Bill in the parliament against our hopes which was very important for Muslims. He pointed out that if Mulayam Singh Yadav is really serious on the minority status of AMU, why did he not raised it in the parliament? He said that Mulayam Singh Yadav is just emotionally blackmailing Muslims. He has forgotten that Muslims played a vital role in forming the SP government with full majority in UP during assembly elections and moved towards soft Hindutva agenda.
AMU court member Prof. Humayun Murad pointed out that SP had assured the Muslims for reservation in its election manifesto but failed to take up it despite formation of its government which indicates the gulf between promise and work. Mr. Anwar Khan, Member AMU Court said that no doubt minority status should be granted to AMU but at this time Mulayam Singh Yadav is just washing Muzaffarnagar black spots by the AMU minority status issue and we will not allow to succeed his political conspiracy. Er. Sibbain Naqvi, Member AMU court and President Engineers Forum Aligarh said that we are supporters of all secular parties but Samajwadi Party has deviated from its chosen path of secularism and socialism and now Mulayam Singh Yadav now with Hindutva elements and so his visit to AMU should be opposed.
In the end of the meeting, MBMC passed resolution declaring to oppose Mulayam visit in AMU campus. In another resolution MBMC demanded that the UP government should ensure safe return of all riot victims to their original places. Large number of teachers, intellectuals and social workers participated in the meeting.
