Facebook purchased WhatsApp, the free text messaging app for $19bn last week, now planing to introduce free voice calls in coming months. WhatsApp’s co-founder Jan Koum declared it at Mobile World Congress, an annual get together of industry professionals in Barcelona.
The new program will be released for Android and iPhone customers initially and later for Windows Phone and BlackBerry users.
WhatsApp’s development into voice signifies a greater danger to mobile operators. Whatsapp claim four hundred fifty million users worldwide and one million new users addition every day.
Mr Koum explained how WhatsApp membership fee cost uses $1 per year. He also announced a collaboration with E-Plus in Germany. Koum said we are enthusiastic about partnerships with carriers.
