Hall administration finds student with high class luxury

ALIGARH : The Aligarh Muslim University administration was shocked to see that a research scholar of Department of Mass Communication could live so luxuriously in a hostel that he hardly qualified to be a student supposed to live in modesty.

Afaq Ahmad, a research scholar in the Department of Mass Communication, who lived in the Jubilee Hostel of the Viqarul Mulk Hall, was shifted to Sir Syed Hall (North) in the new academic session. Irate with the order, Afaq resorted to a dharna in V.M. Hall, refusing to vacate the hostel room.

It may be noted that the University administration had already passed an order for all students and research scholars to vacate their hostels rooms at the end of the last academic session to facilitate reallocation of their hostels in the new session.

With all efforts to persuade Afaq to vacate the hostel going in vain, the V. M. Hall Provost Prof. Shadab Khursheed today decided to seal Afaq’s room after preparing an inventory of his goods.

The team was aghast to find a number of costly luxurious items in his room including a king size fridge, geezer, music system, high voltage heater plates, scanner, laptop, all size cookers, several sets of crockery, several plastic chairs and a chair meant for the Provost of the hall.

Prof. Shadab Khursheed, Provost of the V.M. Hall, along with a proctorial team, a Deputy DSW and wardens of the Hall today met Mr. Afaq and appealed him to vacate the Hall and move to the allocated new hall of residence. Turning down the Provost’s appeal, Afaq started threatening him which amounted to violation of code of conduct.
