Mandi town in Himachal Pradesh lacks basic infrastructure facilities


New Delhi: Mandi MP Ram Swaroop Sharma while speaking in lok sabha said that Mandi town in Himachal Pradesh lacks basic infrastructure facilities  like drinking water supply, hospitals , hostels for students, rest houses, Kendriya Vidyalaya etc despite of the fact that students from all over India and Abroad  come to Mandi for studying in IIT.

He said that four persons had died recently due to negligence of the construction companies working for infrastructural development of the IIT Mandi and added that Himachali domiciles are being ignored while making the recruitment in IIT administrative and other posts.
He demanded that central govt should send a central team to study the functioning of IIT Mandi so as to ascertain factual position and also speed up the development of the institution. He thanked Prime Minister Narender Modi for enhancing the budgetary provision from 760 crore to 1466 crore for IIT Mandi  and requested the central govt to allocate maximum funds for IIT Mandi for speedy and time bound  development of the institutions.
