New Game Plus’ Best Games to Play with Your Community

We are New Game Plus, a video game related website and streaming channel from Argentina. Maybe you’ve seen us in the GB @ Nite couch but we are best known for being Grubb’s Yerba dealers. You can watch our daily streams on twitch.tv/newgameplus.
Being a variety streaming channel is not an easy task in today’s Twitch landscape. You are probably better off sticking to one type of video game or playing whatever’s trending. Don’t get us wrong, it’s amazing to not play the same game everyday until you end up hating it. But when you try so many things throughout the year not everything sticks. Sometimes good games become bad streaming experiences.
That is why this year we are not writing a list with the absolute best games of 2024. Instead we bring you a list with our best experiences to play while streaming with your community.
The GOAT is back and Game Pass has truly changed the way our community has related to this new Call Of Duty. In years prior we wouldn’t play as much as we have in 2024 for plenty of reasons. But this time around not only the game is complete fire but also the low price of Game Pass Ultimate in our country has made our viewers constantly thirsty for a couple matches of Team Deathmatch everyday. We know this sounds like an ad for Game Pass but we would be lying if we didn’t acknowledge the effect it’s had on our enjoyment of the game (some of our followers even play it through the cloud while they are at work). Creating private lobbies with 32 players and coming up with random stupid rules is a recipe for pure chaos and fun. Black Ops 6 is simply one of the best online experiences of the year and a blast to play with a community like ours.

Remember Wordle? Remember all those clones that came out from its success? Well this is the best one by far and playing it on stream is the closest we’ve felt to being video game experts™. You basically pick a game and it tells you whether you’ve guessed the year, the platform or the genre with the same color scheme as Wordle. We’ve been playing it throughout all of 2024 and we have an unbeaten streak of almost 300 guesses and it’s an awesome way of remembering old games. Our viewers have saved us multiple times with suggestions so it’s basically a team effort, something weird to say about a game such as this.

What more can we say about one of 2024’s coolest stories. When we first saw it on a State Of Play we couldn’t have been less hyped about Arrowhead’s new title. The first Helldivers didn’t grab us and we didn’t have high expectations for the second, especially with how murky Sony’s live service strategy was being handled. We couldn’t have been more wrong. Helldivers 2 is one of the most unique multiplayer experiences putting collaboration and not competition on the spotlight. It is an intense and fun coop experience unlike any other and it feels alive in ways other live service games couldn’t even dream of. Every time we needed a fourth member for the team the community was ready to fight for democracy. We can’t wait to see how the game evolves in the next couple of years.

Yes, we know. It’s a DLC, not a full game. But it’s undeniably one of the best experiences of 2024, even if you have to do a whole lot of bullshit in the base game to access it. We played Erdtree almost entirely on stream and it was a way for some of our audience to experience a tremendous piece of content that they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to enjoy or beat. Radahn was a pain in the ass and made us change our whole build but that doesn’t take away every awesome vista, every incredible new encounter, every fantastic new weapon and the unforgettable Igon during Bayle’s boss fight. Erdtree is everything Elden Ring already was but more complex, detailed and challenging. It’s awesome.

Oh boy. Where do we even start with this one? We’ve never been able to use the whole opening packages gimmick because that would be financially unwise from us. However when Pokémon TCG Pocket came into our lives the thrill of sharing with the whole world which card you got on a booster pack has basically no cost. Everyday we open at least one or two packs on stream and we even have spreadsheets with all sorts of statistics and probabilities. The whole community is playing as well, even the ones that didn’t like Pokémon in the first place. We almost never play matches on stream, we just collect the cards and that is a much healthier relationship to have with this type of game.

This is a weird entry on the list because of the very nature of the game. Animal Well is an obscure, mysterious, clever and fascinating platformer that on paper wouldn’t be the easiest game to play while streaming. However we played it to completion and our audience was thankful for it. Solving puzzles together was a blast and uncovering the mysteries of the world created by Billy Basso was one of the most fulfilling experiences of the year. Give Animal Well a chance, it truly deserves every bit of praise it has received.

Frostpunk 2 is a pretty good game that on a more traditional game of the year list wouldn’t have been featured. In this particular list however is one of the top contenders with one of the best Twitch integrations we’ve seen in a while. This second installment is as punishing and harsh as the first one but when you are joking around with chat even the most cruel decisions become easier to swallow. There’s a whole system where the audience can alter which laws get approved in the campaign and that has a big impact on how successful you can be. Even if they are trolling while voting and picking what seems to be the worst decision for the survivors in the game, you never really know what to expect in Frostpunk 2 and you are constantly improvising. It is a good game that is greatly improved by playing it with an audience and condemning children to work in mines for the greater good.
There were a ton of incredible games in 2024 even if we didn’t spend too much time streaming them. Balatro consumed our lives, Prince Of Persia is the best game no one played, Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth cemented Ichiban as one of the most lovable dudes in gaming and Astro Bot melted our hearts (and our thumbs with the speed run levels). We are incredibly lucky to be able to play these games for a living and we don’t take that for granted. We’ll see what we come up with in 2025.
