Save 40% on 8BitDo’s wireless, hot-swap mechanical keyboard

Keyboards are kinda my thing. I review them, I build them, I occasionally even use them to type up computer news. And I was very impressed by 8BitDo’s first attempt at a mechanical keyboard. Even with a little retro goofy styling (the brand’s bread and butter), it was a great board at a great price. Today, you can get an even better one for just $59.99 via Woot. That’s a hefty $40 off.

The 8BitDo Retro Keyboard comes in several colorways, themed after the NES, Famicom, Atari, and even Xbox. This version is going for a more button-down look aping the legendary IBM Model M keyboard and other buckling-spring designs from the 80s. It’s not a buckling spring, though. It’s a standard, modern mechanical keyboard, complete with some impressive wireless options and hot-swap switch sockets that let you customize your typing experience.

The Kailh Box White switches that come in the box are loud and clicky. It also has a couple of programmable add-on buttons (also hot-swap). Sure, they don’t make sense with the Model M color choice, but they’re still fun. The PBT keycaps that come with the keyboard are pretty great, but if white and gray aren’t your thing, you can easily swap them out thanks to its standard TKL layout. While $100 was already a pretty good deal for a solid keyboard with both wireless and hot-swap capabilities, this $60 sale price is fantastic. Amazon subsidiary Woot is offering this deal, and unlike many of its sales, it’s a new (not refurbished) keyboard with a long deal time. There are 12 days left on the sale at the time of this writing, but as with all Woot deals, it might go out of stock before then.
